Neuroimaging Courses
BASIC COURSES
SPM8 Essentials is an introductory, on-line course designed for investigators having some familiarity with the fundamental principles of fMRI data acquisition and analysis. Requiring no previous experience with SPM, it provides a basic grounding in the conceptual and practical issues associated with using SPM8 for fMRI analysis for people already registered for one of our more advanced analysis courses, such as SPM8 for Basic and Clinical Investigators or Network Analysis: Functional Connectivity. It will be available later in 2012.
Functional MRI in Clinical Research and Practice: Measurement, Design and Analysis is designed to give clinical investigators an intensive introduction to the issues associated with using structural and functional MRI in clinical research studies. Topics will include the basic principles of MRI measurement, techniques for stimulus presentation and response recording in high magnetic fields, basic statistical methods, individual subject experimental design and analysis techniques, group design and analysis techniques, clinical study design principles and guidelines for reporting clinical neuroimaging studies.
INTERMEDIATE COURSES
SPM8 for Basic and Clinical Investigators is an intermediate-level, 5-day workshop designed for investigators having familiarity with the fundamental principles of fMRI, and at least six months experience in functional neuroimaging data acquisition and analysis. The workshop will focus on using SPM8 and its extensions for preprocessing, statistical modeling and visualization of data associated with a range of basic and clinical fMRI experimental designs. While the primary emphasis will involve using the core SPM8 programs for these purposes, there will also be extensive discussion of a variety of software tools that extend the power of SPM8.
ADVANCED COURSES
Network Analysis: Functional Connectivity is an advanced, 5-day workshop designed for investigators having familiarity with the basic principles of fMRI data acquisition, statistical analysis using the general linear model, and substantial practical experience in fMRI analysis. The presentations will provide an introduction to network analysis using SPM8, FSL and AFNI along with practical demonstrations tied to the key conceptual issues. Topics covered will include functional connectivity examined using bivariate correlation or regression, independent component analysis, and graph theory.
SPM8 for Basic and Network Analysis is an advanced, 5-day workshop designed for investigators having familiarity with the basic principles of fMRI data acquisition, statistical analysis using the general linear model, and substantial practical experience using SPM. The first two days will review advanced topics relevant to the use SPM8 and its extensions for preprocessing, statistical modeling and visualization of data. The last three days will provide an introduction to network analysis using SPM8 along with practical demonstrations tied to the key conceptual issues. Topics covered will include functional connectivity examined using bivariate correlation or regression, psychophysiological interaction analysis, and dynamic causal modeling.
